Cemda asks to protect Los Tuxtlas reef system in Veracruz

The Mexican Environmental Law Center (Cemda) has demanded that Federal Government declare Los Tuxtlas reef system as a Protected Natural Area (ANP), according to a report in Sin embargo. Oil activities and fishing could affect the ecosystem. The Cemda says that this ecosystem has an environmental, cultural and economic relevance for Mexico. Authorities must protect it as soon as possible, Cemda declared.

Mexican solar energy could grow 150% annually

Mexican Ministry of International Trade said BlueSun and Sky Solar are two of the eight Canadian companies interested in investing in Mexico’s energy sector.

Rowena Dias, director of the Ontario mission for the Ministry of International Trade in Mexico, said Canada has a long history of working with Mexican companies in sectors other than the energy, such as mining, technology and agriculture.

Mexico increases its protected areas

Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico, approved increasing natural protected areas. The extension of them is the largest protected in the country´s history. This was done before the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP13).
