When the price of WTI (West Texas Intermediate) surpassed the US$100 per barrel in 2014, it was all happiness in the sector with large projections and expectations; just two years later with the barrel closer to US$50, things have changed substantially.
A report in Cronica says that former congressional deputy and now leader of the front for the indigenous and rural communities’ defense with oil activity in Tabasco, Verónica Pérez Rojas has been leading a struggle against Pemex since the end of 2013. Mrs. Pérez is looking for the company to accept and start immediately to repair damage caused by oil exploitation activities in the region carried out by the corporation.
According to El Financiero, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, head of SENER, inaugurated the Mexican Oil Congress (CMP) 2016, which takes place in Cintermex Monterrey, Nuevo León, highlighting the Energy Reform role, whose main achievement has been Pemex´s modernization.
The latest extraction data for May, published by Pemex, is not very positive because production stood at 2.17 mmbbl, which shows a drop of 2.3% compared to the same period last year; production at that time was 2.22 mmbbl.
As part of the Energy Reform, the Secretary of Energy (SENER) issued guidelines and model contracts for the use, involvement or, where appropriate, acquisition of land, assets or rights for the exploration and extraction oil and transportation through pipelines.
